Sheyi Bankale speaker at Research and Debate Visual Culture class

Editor of UK "Next Level" magazine; Sheyi Bankale gave us a talk on Sculptural Photography today. He will be giving another "Lunchtime Lecture" at Central's Main Lecture Theatre 12:00 5th April.
François Willème (1830–1905) was a French artist (painter, sculptor and photographer) who developed and patented a process for producing portrait sculpture using synchronized photo projections to create photosculptures. Above is an illustration explaining the process (1897).

Much of the work Sheyi referenced came from the The Photographic Object 1970 exhibition;

Ceramic colours

These ceramics based on the old style drink Stubbie have intensified bright colours. The message may have been lost as the subtle skate stencil designs did not show through. I may do another series.

Fluro theme continues;

We have been told about not putting crumby quality photo's online, but I could not resist publishing some of my favourites. "On the platform"at the Bicentennial Ramp Riot at El Caballo Blanco;

Zora Kreuzer gives talk at Central

We enjoyed a presentation by Zora Kreuzer a week or so ago in Research and Debate Visual Culture class. I have not had a chance to tell Zora yet, but this work of hers in Bavaria, Germany is reminiscent of how Ray and I painted the West Action premises on Mandurah Rd, Golden Bay back in 1988. Perhaps the the stripes on the building we painted were not fluro, but because it was a surf wear shop there would have been plenty of the fashion in the window.

The 1988 memories come back...

 In 1988 I got my first full time job working at West Action surf wear fashion run by Ray Joslin.
At this job I was introduced to sign writing; helping on jobs around Rockingham and Mandurah.

David Dewsbury took the above pics of me when I met up with Melski McVee the street artist who was inviting the public to lend a hand.;
